Thunderstorm expected
Posted on September 13th, 2012
The Malta Airport MetOffice confirmed that between Thursday night and Saturday, it is expected that there will be showers which could be locally thundery at times.
This weather is a result of a cold front associated with a depression over Italy and which will extend from the Adriatic Sea towards northeast Algeria on Thursday and which will move south-eastwards crossing the Maltese Islands overnight between Thursday and Friday.
This front, the MetOffice added, will bring rain-bearing clouds into the region together with cooler air making the atmosphere more unstable over a still relatively warm sea.
Furthermore the wind is expected to veer into a mainly Northwesterly direction and become rather strong to strong.
