A 44-year-old community nurse was seriously injured after she was stabbed in Wied Is-Sewda, Qormi by a man at around 18:45hrs CEST.

The woman was with an 18-year-old colleague in a car belonging to the Malta Memorial District Nursing Association (MMDNA), a non-profit organisation that offers community nursing and midwifery services.

The Police said a 33-year-old man from Santa Venera, was sitting in the back seat of the Peugeot 106 and was being given a lift to Qormi.

The two started arguing and the man allegedly slashed the woman with a sharp instrument, according to the sources.

She was rushed to Mater Dei hospital where she is being treated for serious but ni life-threatening injuries.

The man fled the scene on foot, he was then found by the police hiding on a farm in Qormi.
