Advice against all but essential travel to Kenya
Posted on November 23rd, 2012
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to advice Maltese travellers against all but essential travel to part(s) of Kenya particularly to the Tana River Delta Triangle, to Garissa district and to within 60km of the Somali border. Moreover, the Ministry wishes to advise against travel to low income areas of Nairobi such as Mathare, Huruma, Kibera, Mukuru Kwa Njenga and Kawangware.
General and Presidential elections are scheduled to take place on 4th March, 2013. Caution is advised, especially in public places. Due to security reasons and inadequate road conditions travel to Lamu island should be made by air if possible. Vaccinations such as the Yellow Fever vaccination are highly recommended.
