The police were informed that a 34 year old man of foreign nationality was being assisted by a medical team in a shop in Triq il-Kurunell Savona, Sliema at around 15:20hrs CET on Saturday.

The police said the a man was noticed taking items from the shop and hiding them in his jacket, the 34-year-old man then asked him to return the items and the person attacked him with a sharp and pointed weapon before fleeing the scene.

The foreigner was taken to Mater Dei Hospital where his condition was confirmed to be stable.
