21-year-old Daniel Callus, from Ħamrun, was remanded in custody and accused in court on Sunday. The man was accused of stealing several items from a Sliema shop and injuring the shopkeeper during a hold-up on Friday.

The police added the man was also accused of carrying a firearm or imitation firearm and breaking the conditions of a previous release.

He pleaded not guilty.
