As almost all parliamentary members have been elected,  apart those awaiting to be elected by by-elections, Prime Minister Jospeh Muscat started nominating his cabinet and official appointees:

Mr Mario Cutajar, former GWU deputy general secretary, was appointed Cabinet secretary and the principal permanent secretary, heading the civil service.

Mr Keith Schembri, owner of Kasco and the brains behind the Labour electoral campaign, has been appointed chief of staff within the Office of the Prime Minister.

Mr Kurt Farrugia, Labour’s director of communications will take on the position of the government’s head of communications.

George Vella is expected to be appointed Foreign Minister.

Edward Scicluna is expected to take on the finance Ministry.

Deputy Prime Minister Louis Grech will assume the newly created position of EU Minister.

Evarist Bartolo will assume responsibility of the Education Ministry.

Karmenu Vella will take control of the Tourism portfolio.

Konrad Mizzi is to be minister for electricity and water.

Godfrey Farrugia is expected to be health minister.

Unofficial sources name Marie-Louise Coleiro Precaas minister for Social policy, Chris Cardona as minister for economic affairs and investment and Manuel Mallia as  justice minister.

Gozitan MP Franco Mercieca, is to be responsible for the elderly and persons with disability.  Helena Dalli is expected to be responsible for civil rights and social dialogue.
