High winds have caused a 33kV line damage however it was quickly repaired by Enemalta engineers.
Enemalta said that as a result of high winds a 33kV cable between Mosta DC and Mellieħa was damaged causing a 132/33 kV transformer at the Mosta Distribution Centre to trip. The fault happened at 19:24 and an outage was reported in the northern part of Malta.
The localities affected included parts of Mellieħa, Buġibba, Qawra, Mġarr, Marfa, St Paul’s Bay, Sliema Gżira and Gozo.
Enemalta engineers started giving back the supply at 19:40 and by 20:00, thanks to the quick response made possible by SCADA, all of the affected localities had their supply restored.
Enemalta employees are currently on site to secure the area and fix the broken line.
