Enemalta has reported that on Wednesday at around 19:30 CEST a cable fault occurred and affected parts of Sliema and Gzira. Most of the substations, were reenergized within 3 hours. Testing then continued to restore supply to the remaining substations which was done this morning. However, since two separate faults were identified, it was not possible to give supply from alternate sources to two substations in Gzira.
During the night Enemalta employees were carrying out fault finding to be able to start repairs however repairs were delayed due to discovery of moisture in the cable. Tests were being conducted to then start repairs but unfortunately when the storm started the culvert was flooded and works have to be postponed until the weather clears.
Due to the adverse weather conditions faults were also reported in Armier and in parts of Burmarrad. Works will start as soon as the storm clears.
