Provisional seasonally adjusted data published by the National Statistics office (NSO) show that industrial production decreased by 6.7 per cent in July over the previous month. When compared to the corresponding month last year, the index of industrial production adjusted for working days went down by 7.7 per cent.
In July, industrial production went down by 6.7 per cent to 100.9 points. This was mainly due to decreases of 12.6 and 7.2 per cent in the production of intermediate goods and consumer goods respectively. On the other hand, the production of energy and capital goods went up by 1.4 and 2.4 per cent respectively.
When compared to the corresponding month last year, the index of industrial production declined by 7.7 per cent. The production of intermediate goods, consumer goods and energy went down by 18.2, 9.4 and 3.6 per cent respectively. On the other hand, the production of capital goods went up by 23.5 per cent.
