The police have reported that thousands of euro in toys and stationery were stolen twice in twenty-four hours from the same garage, which is used as a shop’s store and situated in Triq l-Infetti, Żebbuġ.
The first theft took place yesterday, September 10, 2013, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., when the shop’s owners, a 51-year-old man and his 49-year-old wife, who live in Naxxar, found that the lock’s cylinder had been dislodged and hundreds of euro in toys missing.
It was today, September 11, 2013, at about 12.05 p.m., that the woman, who was about to enter the garage, found a station wagon loaded with stationery, a screwdriver inserted in the lock and a man.
Despite suspecting that this was the same person who had robbed them the previous day, the owner asked the man what he was up to. He answered that he was looking for someone. The woman continued that she would return to the shop and see if she could help him out. She, however, immediately called for assistance.
However, despite arriving within minutes, the police discovered that the man had left. A patrol in the area also proved fruitless.
Further investigations are underway.
