Minister for the Family and Social Solidarity Hon. Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca joined EU social affairs Minister during the EPSCO (Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council) meeting on the 15th October 2013 in Luxembourg. Discussions focussed about the Directive for the posting of workers and the evaluation of the 2013 European Semester in employment and social policies.
The Hon. Coleiro Preca highlighted the need of considering interventions addressing the increasing working poor amongst other issues and actively participated in the discussion about the social dimension of the European Monetary Union and the strengthening the social dimension.
The three main matters discussed were the reinforced surveillance of employment and social challenges; the enhanced solidarity and action on employment and labour mobility and the strengthening of the social dialogue.
Other bilateral meetings took place with the Portuguese Minister for Employment and Social Solidarity Pedro Mota Soares, Polish Minister of Labour and Social Policy Radoslaw Mleczko and with Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion Laszlo Andor.
