The Ministry for Education and Employment is launching the Malta Arts Scholarship scheme.  This scheme is aimed for local artists who wish to continue their specialisation by attending a course on full time basis at any recognised instititution abroad, specialising in the visual and performing arts.  The course cannot be of a duration of less than 8 months but not longer than 4 years.  The scheme is financed by local funds.

43 artists have already benefited from this scheme.  Their specialisations followed comes from: Fine and Contemporay art, ballet, contemporary dance, computer games design, contemporary music; computer animation; creative writing; fashion design; flamenco; flute and violin performance; theatre music; photography; restoration and opera singing.

To qualify, the applicant must present proof of the artistic skills and that the applicant must be accepted in a foreign recognised institution which physically opeartes outside Malta.  For the full set of Regulations, one has to visit the website www.myscholarship.gov.mt.

The Ministry appointed an independent Selection Board to evaluate all applications that have to be submitted by Friday 28 February, 2014 at noon.  These applications need to be submitted at the Customer Care, Ministry for Education and Employment, Great Siege Road, Floriana.  Applications submitted by post, need to be sent by registered mail. Applicants are to submit with their application form a portfolio showing at least the best three artistic pieces or representations.  Eligible applicants shall be called for an interview, which may include a performance.
