Four companies will be sharing some €223,000 voted by the Ministry Education, Culture, Youth and Sport in 2008 for the production documentaries and films by local media production Houses. The beneficiaries of the fund, chosen out of fifteen applicants, are Lighthouse Communications, Falkun Film Productions, WE productions and MPS PIcture Box.

Lighthouse Communications will be working on a short film called Hamlet of Strait Street.  This is the only film to benefit from the fund. The other three companies will be producing documentaries with Falkun Film Productions, proposing a documentary entitled Dear Dom, WE Production a documentary on the Simshar tragedy and MPS Picture Box a documentary called Reefs for the Future.

During the presentation ceremony on Tuesday, Minister Dolores Cristina said thre had been strong interest in the Film Fund and the total amount of assistance requested had reached €600,000.
