St Aloysius College wins the U14 Boys rugby tournament
Malta Rugby Football Union ran the first touch rugby school tournament of the 2008-2009 scholastic year today at St Aloysius College, the event was sponsored by Gasan Mamo.
Two school teams entered the U14’s boy’s competition, St Aloysius College and St Edwards College.
The teams played each other in three separate games, in all three games of eight minutes each half were played with a total of nine very good tries were scored.
The level of play and understanding of the laws of touch rugby coming from the youngsters taking up rugby as a main sport is of a very high standard, throughout the whole tournament there was very little difference between all of the teams and each game was very well contested with their possession in going forward whilst using the space wisely and also in their defensive alignment skills.
The Results at the end of the tournament were:
St Aloysius College v St Edwards College, 2 – 1
St Edwards College v St Aloysius College, 2- 2
St Aloysius College v St Edwards College, 2 – 0
A very big well done to all involved and congratulations to St Aloysius College for winning and being the 2008-2009 U14’s boys champions.
All the participants were presented with a water bottle courtesy of Gasan Mamo, youth rugby sponsor, and finally St Aloysius were presented with the winner’s trophy.
