Bad weather disrupts Gozo ferry service
The Gozo ferry service was suspended Sunday evening between 1800CEST and 2200CEST due to bad weather leaving hundreds of passengers stranded including Gozitan workers who had to report to work on Monday. Then service resumed on Monday morning but the ferries are going to the east of the island of Comino that is acting as a shielf from the gale-strong South-Westerly wind.
According to forecasts by www.maltaweather.com, the weather should be better on Tuesday although strong winds will continue during the day on Monday.
Hundreds of Maltese and foreigners were also trapped in Gozo on Sunday night, unable to go back to Malta as the service was suspended. They had gone to Gozo for the Easter celebrations, which were also disrupted by the bad weather.
Meanwhile, in a statement on Monday, the police alerted the public to avoid 13th December Street in Marsa and the St Venera bypass due to traffic congestion following accidents caused by the weather conditions.
No serious incidents have been reported.
