As part of ongoing efforts to establish and strengthen relationships with key cruise partners, VISET Malta plc, operators of the Valletta Waterfront and the Valletta Cruise Terminal, actively participated at this year’s edition of Cruise Shipping Miami.

VISET’s primary goal was to engage in dialog with cruise executives, travel agents, cruise associations and trade media. Meetings presented an opportunity to convey why the Valletta Waterfront remains a premier cruise destination, while also sharing updates on the Port of Valletta and the Maltese islands.

Visitors to the stand had the opportunity to sample Maltese beer CISK as well as Shandy, served with the compliments of Simonds Farsons Cisk.

All stand visitors had the opportunity to participate in an exclusive draw organised by VISET. The lucky winner, Mr Christopher Allen, Director Deployment and Itinerary Planning at Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises & Azamara Cruises, went home with a holiday for two in Malta, including a six-night stay on bed and breakfast basis at the exclusive 5-star hotel The Palace, a sumptuous meal and spa treatments for two, as well as flights for two persons compliments of Air Malta.

VISET Malta plc took the obligation to develop modern sea passenger facilities at the Port of Valletta and embarked on an ambitious restoration project of the 18th century Pinto Stores back in 2001. The project, costing in excess of €30 million, led to the realisation of the Cruise Liner Passenger Terminal, a terminal offering state-of-the-art facilities which are unique both for their location and for their historic value. Since VISET took over the actual operation in 2002, the number of cruise passengers in Valletta increased from 273,516 passengers to over 540,000 passengers in 2008.
