A shop assistant was seriously injured in his left hand when shots were fired during a hold-up on Monday evening at a shop in Psaila Street, Birkirkara. A hooded and armed man entered the shop while another waited outside.
The hold-up took place at about 18:30CET the Police said.
There was no one else in the shop except for the shop assistant.
He was taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries. However he is not in danger of dying.
Duty Magistrate Dr Joseph Apap Bologna was informed of the case and several experts were appointed to assist in the inquiry.
