The Valletta Waterfront will be bursting at the seam with activities on Sunday, May 31 with three events to cater for different passions for the young and the old, from radio sailing, to a display of Skoda cars and sessions on the rock climbing wall for children at discounted prices.

Radio-controlled boats will be sailing close to the wind at the Valletta Waterfront laguna on vying for the Valletta Waterfront Radio Sailing Cup 2009. The class of the radio-controlled sailing boats participating in the event is the most popular worldwide. The boat has two controls: a rudder and a winch to control the sails. The rules applied for this competition are the same as those used by the big boats. Sail setting and tactics play a big part when racing.

The regatta will be made up of 12 races and points are awarded according to finishing positions, and will be split in two different categories. At the end of the competition a number of trophies will be presented by the Valletta Waterfront to the winning skippers.

The event, which kicks off at 1100CEST, is run in collaboration with the Malta Model Boats Association.

Concurrently, the Skoda Club Malta will be putting up a display of Skoda cars from different eras, from the Sixties to the present day, as part of the Valletta Waterfront’s Roaring Sundays, happening on a number of weekends a month until October. Roaring Sundays are coordinated in collaboration with the Malta Motorsport Federation, Paq Paq TV and M-150 still energy drink.

On the day, children may enjoy the thrilling experience of the mobile rock climbing wall at a discounted price where two children can climb for the price of 1.

“This is yet another Sunday for the whole family,” said Joshua G. Giordimaina, Marketing Executive for VISET Malta plc, developers and operators of the Valletta Waterfront. “The Valletta Waterfront is an all-year-round destination which can be enjoyed by everyone. These events and the collaboration with the various clubs and associations in Malta is our way to thank our patrons for making the Valletta Waterfront their destination of choice.”
