Malta pays tribute to Michael Jackson (video)
The Maltese Islands woke up on Friday morning with the news of the unexpected death of American pop star Michael Jackson, who, like the rest of the world, also had a good following also in our country.
Since the announcement of his death was made late on Thursday, only one daily Maltese newspaper managed to include the news in its pages. However TV channels, radios and online media all focused on this news throughout the Friday.
Local TV station Favourite Channel also remembered this popular singer by interviewing Maltese personalities who followed Michael Jackson throughout the years as fans or as part of their profession in the media.
MaltaMedia’s creative director Dr Toni Sant, played Jackson’s music regularly in the 1980’s and early 1990’s when he was a presenter and producer on Maltese radio and TV stations. He was interviewed via webcam by Favourite Channel. Eileen Montesin, a seasoned radio and TV presenter since the 1980’s, also shared her grief.
Angie Laus is a big Maltese fan of Michael Jackson.
