Man given two-year prison term ten years later

Generoso sive Jimmy Sammut was jailed for just over 2 years for having stolen various items almost ten years ago.
Mr Sammut had been accused of stealing various objects, including paintings and furniture from Attard between 4th and 7th September 1999. He had also been accused of receiving stolen goods, slightly injuring and insulting a police officer and for disobeying police orders.
Mr Sammut was sentenced to 2 years and 3 months imprisonment by Magistrate Dr A Mizzi. He was also ordered to pay 500 euros for court expenses. The prosecution was led by Assistant Commisioner Pierre Calleja and Inspector Angelo Caruana.
