Air Malta supports L-Istrina campaign
Air Malta together with Sky Gourmet will be supporting the Malta Community Chest Fund (MCCF) in raising funds towards L-Istrina Campaign amongst Air Malta’s Customers. During the month of November and December Air Malta’s cabin crew will be collecting donations from all those passengers who wish to participate in this campaign.
L-Istrina is an annual charity marathon broadcast live on local TV stations during the Christmas period. The proceeds collected during this campaign go to several local charity organisations operating in various spheres. This was launched during a visit by H.E. the President of Malta, Dr. George Abela to Air Malta Offices last week.
Speaking during the launch of this campaign, H.E. the President of Malta said, “The Malta Community Chest Fund is grateful of the support given by Air Malta, its employees and its passengers. This kind of support encourages us to continue to provide assistance to people who are going through difficult moments in their life as well as their families. Such assistance will help in no small way in easing some difficulties to these people”.
Commenting on this initiative, Air Malta Chairman Lawrence Zammit said, “We are proud that with the support of our customers and employees, Air Malta is once again supporting the Malta Community Chest Fund. Through our assistance we are increasing awareness and providing tangible support to organisations that provide a sterling service to the community. Air Malta’s assistance is a reflection of the airline’s social obligations that aim to support and encourage organisations in diverse sectors that help the community in some way or another.”
The Malta Community Chest Fund is a charitable institution chaired by the President of Malta deputised by his wife. The aim of the Fund is to help philanthropic institutions and more importantly, individuals with different needs. The MCCF’s revenue depends only on activities organised by the fund during the year as well as by the office of the President. It also relies on the generosity of corporate companies and the general public for the collection of donations.
