Four residents in the Loreto ward at St Vincent de Paule home were evacuated uninjured following a fire in the ward which started from an air conditioner.

The incident happened Wednesday night at 2230CEST with the fire being controlled promptly by members of the fire brigade.

According to a statement on Thursday from the Secretariat for Care for the Elderly, Parliamentary Secretary Mario Galea went on the scene to assist in the coordination of the rescue.

Police investigations are underway.
