The organisers of the Coca-Cola Malta Music Awards 2009 have announced that the popular media personality Gianni and TV presenter Angie Laus will be hosting the Awards, being held on Saturday 5th December at the MFCC, Ta’Qali.

The show will emulate the glitz and glamour of similar international awards ceremonies. Last year’s Awards night featured a red carpet area and celebrity walkway, a huge stage and an attendance of nearly 5000 people.

Some of the most popular local artists will be performing on the night, including Scar (who have just released a new album), Carrie (fresh from a string of live performances in the UK) as well as other 10 other top names. Also present on stage will be Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees, who is to be presented with a lifetime achievement award.

Half the proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Malta Community Chest Fund. H.E. the President of Malta and Mrs Abela have confirmed their attendance. General admission tickets cost: €10. VIP tickets cost: €30. Tickets can be purchased from TicketLine at www.ticketline.com.mt, the MFCC and from Springfield, South Street, Valletta. More information is available on the website: www.musicawards.com.mt

17 Awards will be given on the night. Tribali and No Bling Show lead the nominations list with five nominations each, closely followed by Carrie with four, and Airport Impressions and Christabelle with three nominations each.
