Eurosong semi-finalists announced
The 36 semi-finalists of the Malta Eurosong 2010, whose winner will represent Malta in the next Eurovision Song Contest, were announced by national broadcaster PBS.
OGAE Malta reports that in the past three days, 122 entries were performed in front of an international jury made up of local and foreign music critics: Michelle Abela, Christian Axiak, Mariella Spiteri and Joe Tanti (Malta), Munro Forbes (Cyprus), Johanna van Lent-Singles (Netherlands) and Jeff Simpson (United Kingdom). The first phase was held behind closed doors.
This Monday all the 36 entries will be performed in front of a different panel of music critics who will judge the songs once again.
From Wednesday 9th December, all entries will be performed on TVM’s show, ‘L-Isfida’ hosted by Malta’s Eurovision 2000 entry singer, Claudette Pace. Songs will be performed in batches of six each week.
Malta’s next Eurovision entry will be chosen on the 20th February 2010 through a mixture of 50% jury vote and 50% public vote.
