Members of the Civil Protection Department on Saturday were very busy packing blankets, clothes, medicine and water donated by the Maltese public in aid of the victims of the earthquake that devastated Haiti this week. The collection is being made at the CPD Humanitarian Aid Section of the Civil Protection Department at Shipwrights Wharf Marsa (behind Marsovin Ltd.) and the CPD Fire Station at the Heliport in Gozo.

The collection of these items will continue Sunday 17th January 2010 between 09.00 hrs. and 16.00 hrs. Monetary donations may also be effected in two accounts which have been opened at the Bank of Valletta, account number 40018758443 and HSBC on account 078-002391-050.

Caritas and other organisations are also appealing for support. Donations may be passed on to all Maltese and Gozitan Parish priests or sent directly to Caritas by cheque payable to ‘Caritas Haiti Fund’, to the following address: Caritas Malta, 5, Triq l-Iljun, Floriana FRN 1514.

The donations may also be deposited in the following three bank account numbers: APS – 20000887495, BANK OF VALLETTA – 40018761294, HSBC – 089021513051
