Video: Drug overdose death leads to 6 arrests

6 people were arrested by the police in connection with the trafficking and abuse of heroin. Investigations began on Wednesday morning after a 22-year-old man was found dead at his residence in St Paul’s Bay. He most likely suffered a drug overdose. The initial autopsy showed the man died of pulmonary oedema.
Investigations led to a 30-year-old man from Msida who was arrested late on Wednesday on suspicion of having provided the drugs to the dead man. In his apartment the police found 7g of heroin, some cannabis, some pills (most likely ecstasy pills), 2 scales and other drug-related items.
Further investigation in relation to this case led to the arrest of another five people: 4 men and1 woman, who are between 17 and 28 years old.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday morning, 18-year-old Oman Galea from Fontana Gozo pleaded not guilty to committing two aggravated thefts on 30th December 2009 and on 18th/19th January 2010 from residences in Ghasri. He was remanded in custody.
