On the occasion of the laying of the first stone of the Parish Pastoral Centre in Qrendi, the Sine Macula (under the direction of Mro. Tony Pace) and Magnificat (under the direction of Ms. Maria Daniela Farrugia) choirs will join forces to an evening of sacred music and poetry which will take place at the Qrendi Parish Church on Saturday 30th January at 20:00 CET.

The evening will consist of three parts during which popular and not so popular choral pieces will be interpreted. The chosen works for the first part are following: Laudate by Christopher Tyre, Ave Maria by Franz Schubert, Sicut Cervus by Giovanni Pierluigi Palestrina and Pie Jesu by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The second part of the programme is reserved to the reciting of a long poem entitled Leħen il-Maħbub written by John Buttigieg. The poem consists of three movments which here will be accompanied by the choral interpretations of Pater Noster by Mro. Joseph Sammut, part of a longer work by Mro. Tony Pace entitled Sancte Paule and Veni Electra Mea by Fr. Albert Borg.

The third and final part of the programme will consist of the interpretation of two movements from the opus Magnificat Ossecensis by Antonio Vivaldi, Maria Parkinson’s As I kneel before You and the popular Pauline hynm Art Sabiħa Magħżula mis-Sema by Mro. Joseph Abela Scolaro.

The choirs together with the solists Tiziana Mifsud (soprano), Deborah Pace (soprano), Sara Mifsud (soprano), Chantelle Busuttil (soprano), Alexandra Ellul (contralto, Jonathan Sciberras (baritone) and pjanist Pauline Pace will be directed by Mro. Tony Pace.
