Infoline number 188 for papal visit
The National Organisational Committee in charge of organising the Papal visit has set up a infoline phone number 188 to assist those requesting information about the visit in Malta by Pope Benedict XVI which will take place on 17th and 18th April.
As from next week, the helpline will be available between 09:00 CEST and 20:00 CEST. The week after, the service will be extended to 22:00 CEST while during the days of the papal visit it will be available from 06:00 CEST to midnight. One can also obtain information by emailing info.zjarapapa@gov.mt or on the official website www.zjarapapa.gov.mt.
The committee, made up of government and Church organisers, is now operating out of a joint coordination centre. The centre is a hive of activity bringing together all aspects of the organisation of the visit including logistics, security and first aid.
Mgr Charles Cordina, who heads the Church organisers, said that currently the accreditation process for media and services personnel is proceeding smoothly. He added that so far over 150 foreign media personnel had applied.
He also said that a number of adverts would be aired on television over the coming days to raise awareness of the forthcoming visit.
