Three charged with assault, one jailed
Three men were charged in court with assault in the past few days. Two pleaded not guilty while one pleaded guilty and was jailed for three years.
The three men are a 40-year-old Adel Dawah from Syria but living in Mosta, 22-year-old John Agius from Floriana and 27-year-old Keith Camilleri from Qormi.
Adel Dawah and John Agius both pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring another person in Floriana and at the Valletta Waterfront respectively on 26th/27th March 2010. They were also charged with carrying a knife without a police licence and with disturbing the public peace. They were remanded in custody.
Keith Camilleri pleaded guilty to various crimes committed in Santa Venera on 26th March 2010 including stealing a car, violent theft, threatening another person with a knife and with carrying a knife without a police licence. He was jailed for three years.
