SmartCity Malta, in conjunction with the Local Councils of Kalkara, Xghajra and Zabbar, held the first in a series of information sessions for parents regarding ICT and media career opportunities. The first group of parents hailed from these three neighbouring localities. They were invited by SmartCity Malta to their office at Ricasoli where they were briefed about the future job opportunities, particularly in terms of ICT and media employment that SmartCity Malta will create.

SmartCity Malta is a joint venture between SmartCity and the Government of Malta with the aim to be recognised as a leading ICT and media destination in the Mediterranean region while supporting the growth of the knowledge-based industry as a new major economic pillar for the benefit of the Maltese people.

During the series of information sessions extended over several months, SmartCity Malta seeks to provide all necessary information for parents to familiarise themselves with the opportunities that will arise in a short span of years as SmartCity Malta develops. The information sessions encourage dialogues responding to questions on the ICT and media opportunities at SmartCity Malta and in turn, allow parents to be in a better position to guide and encourage Maltese students to grasp the opportunities that will be created by SmartCity Malta.

SmartCity Malta CEO, Claudio Grech, said, “SmartCity Malta will create many opportunities for Maltese citizens to either start-up a business at SmartCity Malta or seek employment in the ICT and media fields that will contribute to the growth of the Maltese knowledge-based economy. SmartCity Malta will also offer jobs in other sectors that are required to fulfill SmartCity’s balanced work-leisure lifestyle. These will include retail and recreational facilities, hotels, residential complexes, health and fitness clubs, meeting and leisure areas, social and cultural events, clinics, educational institutions and day-care centres.”
