Video: Malta does not qualify for Eurovision Final
Thea Garrett did not fulfill her dream of reaching the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 as My Dream was not one of the 10 songs selected by the voting public in Tuesday’s semi-final held in Oslo, Norway. Her good performance was not enough to fend off the competition.
Iceland, Albania, Serbia, Belarus, Portugal, Greece, Russia, Belgium, Russia, Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina made it to the final which will be held in Oslo this Saturday.
This continues a string of negative performances for Malta of late, with a 22nd place finish last year and no qualification for the final in the previous two years.
Speaking on Favourite Channel just a few minutes before the start of the semifinal, MaltaMedia’s Creative Director Toni Sant said that “Malta’s entry was not among the favourites with the large voting groups. It was sheer optimism that kept anyone thinking it could qualify for Saturday’s final.”
Toni San’t s full comments ahead of the contest appeared on Favourite Channel on Tuesday evening; watch the video below. He will undoubtedly be blogging about Malta’s future in the Eurovision Song Contest at ToniSant.com
