Russian student charged with attempted murder
A 16-year-old Russian student pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of two Maltese boys in an argument early on Monday morning in Bugibba.
The Russian boy, who is in Malta to learn English, was charged with the attempted murder of Dwayne Curmi and Kurt Fazlon, who were both injured by a penknife in the groin and chest respectively. He was remanded in custody.
Meanwhile, the former driver of Parliamentary Secretary Mario Galea was conditionally discharged for two years after he admitted to damaging his official car and to filing a false police report.
The court took into consideration Mr Bianco’s early admission and his cooperation with the police, as well as the fact that he had lost his job, and conditionally discharged him for two years.
In another case, 43-year-old Raymond Abela pleaded not guilty to slightly injuring various policemen at Victoria and Marsalforn on 5th June. He was also accused with attempted theft, breaching the public peace and with shouting and fighting. He was released on a personal guarantee of €5000.
