A 24-year-old motorcyclist lost his life on Sunday afternoon after he was involved in a traffic accident in Birzebbugia, near Ghar Dalam.

The police said it seems the rider, who hails from the same village, hit a car, lost control of the bike, and hit another car coming from the opposite direction.

The man was certified dead on the spot. The driver of the first car hit by the motorcycle was taken to Mater Dei hospital and treated for his state of shock.

The road was closed for some time after the accident.

Police are investigating. The duty magistrate ordered an inquiry.
