Video: Man seriously injured in car crash
A man, aged 59 from Kalkara, was seriously injured after crashing into a tree in Luqa on Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred at around 14:30 hrs CEST when the man, driving a Maruti 800, lost control of the car and hit a tree on the lane, after the impact the car crossed the central strip and hit another tree on the opposite lane. The accident occurred in Council of Europe Road in Luqa which had to be closed to the public due to police inquiry.
The police said that the car sustained considerable damage and the Civil Protection Department (CPD) were called on site to extract the man safely from the remains of the wrecked car. He was then rushed to Mater Dei Hospital where he was assessed to be in a stable condition but had sustained serious injuries.
Council of Europe Road in Luqa was re-opened to the traffic shortly after the police confirmed in a release.
