Video: Malta lacks firework manufacture standards- MSA
Posted on September 7th, 2010
In Malta there is no set of standards on pyrotechnics. A statistical average of three victims per year die in fireworks related explosion, Favourite Channel News reports.
Engineer Francis Farrugia, Chairman of the Malta Standards Authority (MSA) in a statement said that there are no local standards on fireworks manufacture, and good practice solely depends on the firework factory concerned.
Law concerning firework manufacture came into force 16 years ago and was altered 11 times. However many sustain that this law does not reflect the modern chemical technology being used in Maltese pyrotechnics.
European Standard on pyrotechnics is supposed to be issued shortly, Favourite Channel News said.
