Video: Primary and Secondary schools re-open
The new scholastic year for Primary and Secondary Schools starts on Monday. Over 54, 000 students in state, independent or Church schools aged 3-16 year are attending the first day of school. Post-secondary and tertiary educational institutions are expected to open their gates next week.
Education Minister Dolores Cristina issued a message in which she wished all students, staff and educators a good scholastic year.
Secondary school teachers will start benefitting from a new agreement reached between government and the Malta Union of Teachers in the summer.
The new scholastic year, together with the heavy rain experienced for some time in the morning, created traffic chaos in various localities.
