The Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association, on Friday, held its annual general meeting, which emphasised the importance of this sector to the Maltese economy.

Present to the meeting were; Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, the Environment and Culture Mario De Marco, Opposition leader Joseph Muscat and Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi.

Whilst addressing the meeting Joseph Muscat congratulated stake holders for their achievements but criticised the fact that there is no specific Minister for Tourism.

Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said that the outstanding achievements in Tourism must be coupled with other reforms including the transport reform.
