Unemployment on the decline
In June 2010, the number of persons working on a full-time basis increased by 227 when compared to the previous year, the NSO revealed on Friday. At the same time, the number of persons registering as unemployed decreased by 498.
In June, the number of full-time employed persons stood at 145,690 whereas the number of registered unemployed amounted to 6,775. Over the preceding month, the number of persons employed on a full-time basis increased by 819, while the registered unemployed dropped by 277.
On the other hand, in the twelve months to June 2010, the full-time employed population increased by 227, while the registered unemployed fell by 498.
In June, total part-time employment increased by 984 over the preceding month. The number of part-timers also holding a full-time job increased by 110, while part-timers whose job was their primary occupation went up by 874.
