Philip Muscat, former Education Minister from Zebbug, died at the age of 80. Dr Muscat served as a minister under the Labour government and has introduced the worker-student scheme for university and technical institute students.

The Labour party has expressed condolences; Zebbug council has also cancelled its New Year’s Day celebrations as a sign of respect.
