Ministry appeals for information on rescued dog’s tormentors
On Friday the Ministry of Resources thanked the workers of the Animal Welfare Department, saying that their discovery and rescue of Star, the dog who was found injured and buried alive on Thursday, was proof of the importance and necessity of their work.
The Ministry renewed its appeal for anyone who had information regarding Star’s tormentors, who shot her in the head and tied her legs and mouth to come forward by phoning 21224001.
Furthermore it continued that in the past three years, the Animal Welfare Department has rescued over 2,000 cats and dogs off the streets and taken 19 individuals to Court on charges of animal abuse. It was also instrumental in the opening of the St Francis Centre, which is a home for animals at risk, and helped launch a 24-hour animal rescue ambulance service.
