Stomping La Luna at the Malta Arts Festival
As part of the Malta Arts Festival Das Collectif are presenting Stomping La Luna, a dance performance choreographed by Irina Pauls on the 19th and 20th July at MITP Theatre, Valletta at 21:00hrs.
It was composer Carl Orff’s opera The Moon (1939) – based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale of the same name – that inspired choreographer Irina Pauls to create this imaginative dance piece. The Moonlight ends up in the underworld, slowly waking up the dead and an eerie underworld life unfolds. As each new scene unfolds, conceptions of time, space and reality will be challenged, allowing magic and mysticism to flow through Das Collectif’s fluidic and dynamic choreography.
Performers are Elina Lautamäki, Johanna Häberlein, Kordula Möser, Rahel Imbach, Regina Kluba, Saskia Muriel Gompf, Susanne Rebholz.
Das Collectif was founded in 2007 in Salzburg. The members of the group take turns choreographing but also work with guest choreographers. This leads to interesting collaborations which combine music and dance.
Entrance to this event is free. Tickets for free events are to be collected from the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts offices, 230, Republic Street, Valletta between 09:00 and 12:00 hrs. For more information please visit the website www.maltaartsfestival.org.
