The song Think Ahead to Go Ahead by Joseph Portelli, an Australian Maltese musician, was selected by the Alzheimer’s Australia for a media campaign to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s.

Joseph Portelli, who goes by the stage name Jay P, had his father diagnosed with dementia and it was this fact that urged Portelli to start collaborating with Alzheimer’s Australia.

Alzheimer’s is a degenerative illness that can involve loss of memory, intellect, rationality and social skills. In Australia more than 227,000 Australians are currently diagnosed with dementia.

In July 2008, with support from Star Motion Enterprises, Jay. P created Show Compassion, an event to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Australia Vic – funds that went towards dementia patients and their families – as well as raising national awareness about this condition, particularly amongst the younger generations.

The campaign will be launched on the 8th of February.
