The Central Bank of Malta as well as all euro are central banks, have announced that they will exchange without charge the koruna banknotes for euro during January and February 2009.

Slovakia joined the euro area on the 1st of January of 2009, replacing its national currency, the koruna, with the euro.

Korunas may be exchanged until 27 February 2009 at the Central Bank of Malta Annex at St James’s Counterguard, Valletta, from Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 13:00.

Banknotes will be exchanged at the irrevocably fixed conversion rate of EUR1=SKK30.1260 up to a limit of EUR1,000 per transaction.
