Nine hospitalised after three accidents- two critical
Three traffic accidents between Friday afternoon and Saturday morning left nine hospitalised, two are in a critical condition. The accidents occurred in Mellieha, Mosta and St Julians.
The police said the first accident was in Triq il-Mistra, limits of Mellieha at around 18:15hrs CET when a Ford Transit, driven by a 49-year-old from Gharghur, collided with a mini-cooper, driven by a Dutch driver, resident in Mellieha.
In the minivan there were also three passengers, two women aged 39 and 23 and a 52-year-old man, all from Mellieha.
All the passengers and both drivers were hospitalised, the 52-year-old man is in danger of losing his life. An inquiry was set.
The second accident occurred in Mosta where three people were hospitalised after a collision in Main Street, Mosta, at around 18:45hrs CET. The police said the driver of a BMW 318, a 29-year-old man from San Gwann crashed into a white Peugeot Partner and a Hyundai Atos.
The Peugeot was pushed onto the pavement with the impact and crashed into the wall. The Hyundai also ended up on the pavement leading to considerable damages.
Two men from Mosta, a 49-year-old who was in the Peugeot and a 19-year-old who was in the Hyundai were also hospitalised.
A 51-year-old man was also critically injured in the third accident, at around 05:00hrs CET on Saturday morning in High Street, St Julians.
The police confirmed the crash involved a Peugeot 205 and a Land Rover. The 51-year-old was a passenger in the Peugeot along with two women, aged 44 and a 30-year-old driver , all from Tarxien. Two foreigners were in the Land Rover.
The men and the two women were hospitalised.
