A 26-year-old Italian, resident in Marsascala, was grievously injured in a traffic accident at Hamrun on Friday evening.

The police said the man riding a Yamaha T1 10 collided with an Opel Corsa that was being driven by a 28-year-old woman from Paola at around 19:55hrs CEST.

The man was taken to Mater Dei hospital, where he is currently being treated for serious injuries.

Further investigations are underway.
