Thirtyt-minute power cut caused by trip at Marsa Boiler
Posted on October 3rd, 2012
Enemalta has reported that at around 17:30, Boiler 7 at Marsa Power Station suffered a fault which caused it to trip. Parts of Iklin, San Ġwann, Balzan, Lija, Birkirkara, Mriehel, Qormi, Santa Venera, Valletta, Msida, Sliema and Gzira were affected.
Enemalta engineers immediately started to give back supply at 17:35 and by 18:02 all affected consumers were reenergized. The very short response time is due to the starting up of fast start emergency plant together with the SCADA system (Supervisory Control and Data Aquisition) which is able to remotely control Distribution Centre resulting in a shorter suspension time.
The cause of the fault is currently being investigated. Enemalta would like to apologize for any inconvenience caused.
