AFM intercepts suspicious boat

On Thursday afternoon the Armed Forces of Malta conducted a board and search operation on a Maltese registered fishing vessel in Maltese waters of jurisdiction. The crew onboard the Fishing vessel “DIMITRA” was composed of 4 Egyptian nationals. During the search conducted by the AFM, it was noticed that the fishing vessel was carrying an excessive amount of fuel on board stored in precarious and hazardous conditions. The Police as well as other local authorities were duly informed. Subsequently, the AFM escorted the vessel into port and berthed in vicinity of Malta Dockyard in Marsa were local authorities were inspecting the vessel as part of their investigation.
