Over 250 migrants on the way to Malta

The government has reported that over the past hours the AFM Operations Centre was coordinating a Search and Rescue Operation East of Malta involving a boat carrying over 250 Migrants.
The Operation involved a coordinated AFM effort with the assistance of a merchant vessel to help a group of migrants in distress. AFM maritime assets including the Offshore Patrol Vessel P52 and the Austal Patrol Vessel P24 are underway to render further assistance. The case took place inside Malta Search and Rescue region and the migrants are expected to land at Hay Wharf Base later on today.
