Malta to know its Eurovision song on Saturday
Malta Song For Europe 2009
The Malta Euro Song 2009 final will take place at Ta’ Qali’s Malta Fairs & Convention Centre on Saturday night.
“This year there’s a much better selection of songs in the final than last year, even if the range of songs is stylistically somewhat limited,” commented Toni Sant, MaltaMedia’s artistic director. “The selected voting system is also an improvement over recent editions.”
The first 182 entries were narrowed down to 56 entries by a panel consisting of Alon Amir, Frank Cachia, Lenoir Francis, Alvin Laudi, Nadienne Sacco, Vincent Scerri and No Yon.
The 56 entries selected by this panel were then performed in a series of weekly TV programme entitled ‘Euro Showbox’ broadcasted by TVM every Saturday evening.
15 entries from Euro Showbox qualified for the final through the votes of another panel - Kevin Abela, Munro Forbes, Pascal-Emmanuel Luneau, Ray Mangion, Denise Mulholland, and Marco Vannuzzi – while another 5 songs were chosen through televoting.
An international panel of 5 foreign judges will select 3 songs to the super-final, and the winner will then be determined by televoting.
