RAKART has announced the opening of the solo exhibition ‘MONAD’ by the Chinese-American artist
Jason Lu, curated by Duska Malesevic. Lu is currently based in Malta.

The exhibition will be inaugurated on the 23rd October 2008 at the Mulino Pantanella, Via Casilina 5, Rome at 7 pm and will be open daily from 6 – 9 pm till the 8th November.
Exhibiting for the first time in Italy, Jason Lu will present himself to the Italian audience with a series of nine conceptual works in a space of 800m2 in central Rome, a perfect example of industrial architecture,
brilliantly restored and brought back to life with the support of Acqua Marcia Srl.

The works in this project are conceptual. Numerous materials have been used, from oil paintings to resin
sculptures, from outdoor installations to light structures, from wood work to pieces in steel and plaster.
The thread that unifies the pieces is the concept of “Monad”– the universal and indivisible one-ness.
Although they are part of an overall project, each work stands on its own.
“This has been a great journey for me,” says Jason Lu, “one of personal growth on many levels. My
fascination with numbers comes from my Chinese heritage, while the various cultures I experienced have
inspired me in different ways. This exhibition I present is the sum of my experiences acquired over time.”
